Grove Railway Station

A visualisation of Grove Gateway’s mobility hub

The ‘Grove Gateway draft masterplan includes a proposal to reopen Grove Railway Station, which has been closed since 1964.

This is an opportunity for Grove station to be incorporated into existing national infrastructure, providing a much-needed transport link to regional hubs including Science Vale.

The need for Grove Station has been well-recognised, with community groups long calling for the site to be reopened, especially following the expansion of Grove Business Park which is expected to create up to 2000 new jobs, and with it a need for upgraded infrastructure.

In September 2023, Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet voted in support of a motion to fund a Strategic Outline Business Case, and an initial assessment of financing options for a new rail station for Wantage and Grove. To read more, please click here.

The railway link will relieve pressure on roads in the local area, and ease congestion within Grove itself, as residents can walk, cycle, or take public transport to the station before boarding a train.
